Now that Thanksgiving is over, all of the office holiday parties are just around the corner. It can be exciting to wear clothes you might not normally wear everyday to show your co-workers how you really "clean up". Yes, it is important to make a splash, but remember these are your colleagues and not your buddies therefore, you don't want to wear anything that might lead to negative office gossip. So, with that said, let's talk about the do's and dont's of holiday party attire:
DON'T #1 NO SUPER MINI DRESSES OR SKIRTS
Remember, this is still considered the office, so anything too short is not appropriate even if, you may be trying to attract the attention of that hot guy from the "whatever" department. Plus, I am sure you do not want to attract the type of attention which, could hurt your professional reputation and career. If it doesn't pass the "pencil test", toss it.
DON'T #2 - SAY NO TO THE "UGLY CHRISTMAS SWEATER"
This is definitely not something you want to be caught wearing if, you want to be taken seriously. I know you want to be funny and festive, but this is not the way. You should still be dressed as a professional.
DON'T #3 -TOO TIGHT IS NOT ALRIGHT
When putting together your outfit, think of this quote:
Overall, if your outfit is something that you would wear to the club, it would be best to skip it. It might be a holiday party, but it is not the time to let your guard down because people are watching. Don't let poor attire be a reason for them to pick you apart!
