I understand, it's summer. The temperatures are blazing and you want to be comfortable, but it is not an excuse to break the company dress code. When dressing for a day at the office keep this thought in mind, if you can wear it to the beach or the gym, more than likely it is not appropriate for work.
Lets take a looks at some of the worse offenses:
These slippers have no “business” in the office, especially in the world of fashion. There are two words to describe flip-flops, inappropriate and dangerous. They are way too casual for an office setting, period.
Fashion legends like Tim Gunn have done everything short of starting a change.org petition and went on to say that wearing activewear in the street is vulgar. Well, Mr. Gunn is absolutely right because leggings are NOT pants! Many times the fabric used to make them which, is usually a cotton lycra is sheer enough to see your undergarments, especially under good lighting.
Well, we can thank Lululemon for this ridiculous trend. No shade but is it any wonder that their company is in the tank? Anyway, this item far too sporty and casual for the workplace unless there is a company softball game, it's gonna be a no.In addition please see Tim Gunn's thoughts on yoga pants in the previous item
MINI - ANYTHING
If it has the word "mini" before its proper name, save if for your off days. How do you know its too short for work? If you can’t bend over or stoop down to pick up a pen without showing everyone your "business", its too short, period.
Okay, this should be a given, but if you can see the “form” of your cleavage, that's gonna be a no. It is very distracting and unprofessional. Not a good thing if, you want to be taken seriously.
