FASHION TERM OF THE WEEK
When you work in fashion, things tend to become second nature after a while. You become very perceptive, but at the same time become indifferent to things because you have seen so much of it. That is how I became with handbags. Now I can spot a Louis or a Celine a mile away without hesitation.
On the other hand, when I thought about what fashion term I should share with you this week, the my indifference shifted and I started to pay attention, or it could be "handbag" brain since I have been working on product development for handbags for the past few weeks.
My latest project with handbags made me question some of the terms and if you might know what they were. Then, I thought about, the more common terms tossed around like signature and collection. Next, I thought to myself, do a lot of people actually know the difference? So, with that said, let's get into the terminology...
It seems pretty straight forward right? A signature is a logo, print or monogram. A couple of brands that come to mind are COACH whose "signature" products bear the "C" pattern and Louis Vuitton with its monogram LV pattern.
On the other hand, collection items are a bit more understated. Its logos are more subtle in appearance. Typically, there will be a small logo on the front of the bag, on the hang tags called "swagger" and on the inside of the bag around the rear pocket.
