BLACK WATCH PRINT
I am sure you have seen this pattern before on button downs and even coats. Well, the black watch print is in fact a timeless wardrobe staple. It is a tartan fabric, which means that it has a pattern of vertical and horizontal bands that criss cross.
A member of the plaid family, this print pattern is widely used by fashion brands with a preppy aesthetic such as Brooks Brothers and J. Crew. Originally used for kilts, they were a part of military uniforms in the United Kingdom more specific, Scotland. This particular plaid debuted in the late 1800's. However, since the early 1900's, black watch plaid has been in and out of popularity and featured on a host of items ranging from women's dresses to mens ties.
Let's see the black watch plaid in action with a few looks below!
